Abstract
One hundred Korean terrestrial snakes of 7 species in 4 genera were examined to observe the fauna of trematode parasites. The snakes were collected in 13 ocalities of southern Korea from June 17, 1981 to June 1, 1982. The results were summarized as follows; 1) Fortyone snakes in 10 localities out of 100 examined, were found to be infected with Encyclometra colubrimurirum Dollfus, 1929. Agkistrodon saxatilis was new host of this parasite. In heavily infected snakes, the habitat was extended to small intestine. The Korean name of Encyclomentra colubrimurorum was proposed as baembisdeumgohwanheubchung. 2) Proalarioides kobayahii Park, 1949 was found in 3 snakes from 3 localities. Elaphe rufodorsata and Agkistrodon caliginosus were new hosts. The Korean name of Proalarioides kobayashii was proposed as baemjugeogheubchung. 3) Unidentified strigeoid trematode metacercatiae were found in Dindon rufozonatum rufozonatum and Natrix tigrina lateralis. Brief description of this metacercaria was made. 4) Diplostomilum type metacercariae of Fibricola seoulensis were found infected in 10 localities. The metacercariae distributed most densely around stomach and liver. Elaphe rufoforsasa. E. Dione, Dinodon r. rufozonatum and Agkistrodon blomhoffii brevicaudus were new hosts of this trematode larvae. The Korean name of Fibricola seoulensis was proposed as juijugeogheubchung. 5) The developments of Fibricola seoulensis in rat, mice and guinea pig were briefly described, by experimental infection.
